This address is the legal entity which is the Data controller collecting and processing the information, which is provided by users via our website or face-to-face consultations or discussions You can contact us for your data protection queries via zoe@thevalecakeboutique.com.
The personal information that we ask you to provide, where the law allows us to,
includes: Names, Email addresses, Telephone numbers. The only reason we collect this information, where the law allows us to is: Keep in touch with regards to your designs, cakes or ongoing queries To Improve our services.
Following our initial consultation, there maybe times that I need to email you with regards to your order, design or cake. You can’t opt out of these emails as they are essential to our agreement and process for us to complete your beautiful cake If we enter any award ceremonies, we may also send you an email with regards to this. It would only be 1 email for each award, asking for your support should you wish to give it. Should you wish to opt out of Newsletters and general VCB updates, you are of course within your rights to do so if you have previously opted to receive these.
We will never sell your personal data to any other party – that’s naughty! There may be occasions where we have to liaise with your other wedding or event vendors with regards to your order/event, for example Florists. However, we will always ask your permission to do so via the order form or prior to this. This could include your name, telephone number or email address in order to distinguish between different clients. These companies are also bound by data protection laws however we can not be held responsible for how they secure or process your information.
We take the security of your personal data very seriously. We use encryption (HTTPS/TLS) to protect data transmitted to and from our website. Unfortunately however, no data over the internet is 100% secure as we all know, so we can not be held responsible for the security beyond this. The contact forms and information provided here are used at your own risk Each client of VCB has an electronic file and a paper file. Electronic files are secured with Windows Defender Security Centre, security system and scans are run frequently to ensure there are no breaches within our system. Our paper files are held in a locked cabinet and are used during the actual baking/making of the orders to ensure we are following your specific requests always We also receive queries and personal information for our clients via Social Media (Facebook/Instagram). These are both business accounts and are protected via password protected access only.
Both electronic and paper files are deleted after they are no longer required, which is after I am happy that you have received your order and are happy with your order Your contact details however are kept for the purpose of potential future orders, to ensure I recognise you as past clients and for potential future emails with regards to any awards we may enter as mentioned above. Should you wish for your details not to be held for such reasons, please advise us via zoe@thevalecakeboutique.com and you will be removed from the system Personal images – Should an edible image be required for your cake, I no longer outsource these, so these images are kept in-house with VCB only. We sometimes get sent photographs of clients with their cakes which is fabulous. We will always ask permission if we can share on social media or via the website at the time of receiving these.
Electronic payments are taken via PayPal or Bank Transfer PayPal is protected by its own encrypted payment service and are covered by their GDPR policy. Your bank details are not stored by VCB Bank Transfers – These are sent to our business account with Lloyds TSB and I am only shown your name and reference you gave at the time of transfer I will only ever request your bank account details should a deposit refund need to be paid back for the hire of items from VCB, or for any refunds required. These are deleted after the payment has been received by yourself.
We do use cookies and similar technologies such as pixels and local storage to identify you when you return to our site. We use them in various ways, for example, speeding up your experience, remember your preferences, evaluate email effectiveness, show relevant adverts (Facebook sponsored ads via retargeting), and personalise your information. Some third party services that we use, such as Google Analytics, may place their own cookies in your browser. We will only use your personal information for the reasons stated above, which are necessary to complete our work for you. At present there is no change of purpose for the use of your information.
